It's over
Ah, finally its all over. Just love today, where i laze around doing nothing. After the mad rush of a quarter, it feels so good to sit in my chair and do totally nothing. Made it a point to sleep at 4am yesterday, just because i could. bloody alarm woke me up at 8, but was too lazy to switch it off, so it rang for half an hour.
Finals ah, went alright, could be better... lets see.
anal - for some weird reason, brain wasnt working, not on the correct wavelength that day. Even for a simple qn which he annonced beforehand, i can misread it during the test and not bother to check that i actually misread the limits of integration. And not once but twice. Now that i think back on it, i really wonder what i was doing. Amazingly, managed to correctly predict 1 qn that came out, aka Banach Steinhaus theorem. The 2 pple i told this to were thanking me after the paper, but guess what? i din complete the proof. Had alot of starts, several pushes to the middle and few finished. Computational errors galore, and lots of misreadings. diff tan x = 1/(1+x^2) ... wah lan eh, 1 X jialat jialat ... oh well, shall console myself with the fact that i most problem would still be above average though. Shall be happy with a B+/A- in this class, unless Wei is feeling generous. (OH, wei is my TA. and btw, i heard that the grad students were told in their first year : "The one that performs the best will get to be TA of this [hon anal] class." So you go wei, MJ sometime....)
econ - yea, would no doubt be an A. no qualms abt that. nice easy paper, yawnz. was irritated when he announced halfway that no one else can leave for the bathroom (cos i wanted to go then) ... 10 mins before the end of the paper, the utility from relieveing myself was greater than the utility of getting full marks. Hence i left early :)
huma - oooh, i really really love my paper, yea i know i said it so many times already. I'm really hoping that she gives me an A for this paper (25%) then at least got chance to pull up my dismal grade. fingers crossed, will find out in 1 week
music - heehee, just handed in 10 pages worth of crap. amazingly did this paper in 3+2+2+8+4 hours (in 5 sittings) Once again shows that it is so much easier to crap, then to write words of substance. Have no idea how this paper will turn out though, and its 40%.
So overall, grades should be about that of last quarter, with several fingers crossed. Which means that once again, i will get warning letter from A'STAR (assuming im on scholarship that is)
my finals next quarter would be 3 on tues and anal on weds. WTF. gonna die like that man. sianz... got to prepare like 2 weeks in advance liao. Next quarter shall be sitting in hon calc and econ intro to game theory. Should be able to cope. Might decide to attempt to teach myself algebra... Taught myself multivariable calculus after bitching about it on friday. Wasnt that hard to learn, once you can visualize the limits. Hence, shll stop bitching abt the numerous definitions in algebra and just remember them. Would certainly help come summer.
Yea, not that i have nothing to do, i find it so liberating. Man, just love this feeling... no need to rush around for classes, get work done, learn stuff. This one day has been a great holiday for me, though i did work by editing my music paper :) but generally enjoyed just having this day relaxing and unwinding. Felt like i did a hell load of things today
slept at 4, woke up at 10 (weird,din want to sleep anymore) got into a mood of spring cleaning, so i cleared out my floor and desk, gave it a through sweep of the place. big sweep remove = neat clean mess. lil stuff on the floor, and the chair can actually be sat on now (have an armchair that served as a book rest, collected a layer of dust on the top, ugh) Place looks slightly tidier, no papers strewn abt on the floor, all nicely checked away in the cabinet.
Then went to do my laundry (2 weeks worth+ bedsheets +blanket) am getting lazy re laundry, been dragging it out for 2 weeks or more. once i had to fill 1.5 loads, so i decided to get my bedding out for a wash too lol. Ate lunch and took a nap, then collected laundry and started sorting it out. Someone needs to invent a machine to fold clothes ... hei at least i fold them and not shove them directly into the drawers k.
started work on my music paper after that, did some editing and rewriting, cut sout several sentences of fluff, added abit more meat. Am generally impressed with the way i spewed out so much rubbish so quickly. Spent several short time slots working on it, and the whole thing just gelled together. Printed out that crap, along with several song lyrics ... if i get a good grade shall let u see pieces of crap that i wrote abt beauty world.
decided to go for a run after handing in my paper.i realize that its such a big waste of time to get my butt down to the gym. It takes me like 15 mins to walk there, 5 ns to change, then i run for like 20 mins, then take a rest, change, and walk back. need to rest, then go bathe. By the time im done, its like 1.5 hrs already. LOL, yea, i laze ard in the meantime. On the plus side, managed to 8.5 miles/hr X 11 mins > 2.4 km. yea, though i nearly killed myself doing that. can feel my pot belly, so need to get rid of it. else end up pre-bmt, bad ... weird thing is that supposedly i lost some weight, but that was my dehydrated body after a run. considering all the food that i ate during finals prep, must have lost all my muscle mass ... ugh, fat LOL
so after a long ardous journey, got back, tried to organize a MJ game, but failed terribly. tried several more times later at night, but today not my day to play. Had dinner with Serene, Tk, kenneth, william, liuyan, LJ, jason, yikley. The last few came much much later as they had review session. As a result, sat there for 2.5 hrs or so just chatting. Serene is highly amused at TK and kenneth's conversation topics compared to jason and yikley.
oh yea, dug out my contact lenses to wear for spring break. Haven really got used to then, takes me a bit of them to put them on, and after a while my perception of things change. wore it for abt 4 hrs, had to come back after dinner to remove them. started wearing specs again, too lazy to poke my eyes, maybe tomolo.
started playing 'pharoah', this antique computer game that i brought over from singapore. din touch it the entire quarter, cos it takes some time to play, and its not satisfying to play a bit at a time. played it for like 3-4 hrs, then decided to stop. and so here i am, blogging away and telling u abt my day.
loved it so so much, would want to remember this day. at the end of a long tiring quarter that zipped by way too fast. seems like new years was just yesterday, but so much has happened since then. lets see...
1. for some weird reason took upblogging again, and the entries have started getting longer and longer. man, this one will be quite long. well, din blog the past few days, so am making up for it now. If the spelling gets terrible, its cos the page is taking forever to update whatever i type. so im actually typing without seeing the words, and hence cant really judge if there is any mistakes. com is getting screwy these few days, MSN hangs for no reason and such. and have also quite a following, shall say >10 pple ++ hi yang^2.
2. have gotten irritated with quite a few pple, and started bitching abt them. and them was criticized for bitching too much, not just by 1 person somemore lol. but who cares, it my right. and whatever i bitch abt (if u can tell whem im not joking) is the truth. When im kidding with u, almost any rubbish can come out, so i wish u good luck discerning the truth. my bitching currently revolves ard 2 pple. cant really say that im justified with the bitching, but from my POV, i am. so there. i dun care what u think.
3. have decided to get a move on with my life. shd start getting involved in other stuff, currently am centered around acadamic stuff only... but then again, would most prob end up as academian, ugh. there isnt exactly an rso that appeals to me, and i dun see myself working as in a business, analyst, broker, investment banker, etc... in a sense, scholarship is good cos it gives u something to do after uni. But i know id most prob be one of those bond breakers (ooops, hope no future scholarship agency, if any, see this) yea, cant stnad being tied down to something that i dun believe in, whereas i would fight for what i feel is worthwhile (and step on several toes in the meanwhile)
4. have realized that waiting is one of the most time wasting things to do. but bo bian, life involves hell lot of waiting... waiting for exam papers to come back, waiting for results to appear, waiting for answers, waiting for this waiting for that. just like arm, rush to wait, wait to rush...
5. rediscovered Calvins law : Productivity is indirectly proportional to the amount of time remaining. was considering adding a square in, but din know how to phrase it properly. Shall take the pportunity to introduce you to the calvin point too - a big black dot on a geom diagram that is used to indicate that several lines are concurrant (though everyone else would dispute that possibility)
6. did almost all my hume reading, quite proud of that. well, the material was interesting and engaging, though cant say much abt the comparative literature teacher. hmz, if i get a good grade for hume, shall post my essay in all its glory. Yea, egotistical, megalomanic, me. i am really in love with it :) cos its the first paper thats not a 5 pp essay, and that i felt really good about. will die if she decides to slaughter this paper, fingers crossed.
7. did all my drp reading on sat night and sun morn, with the meeting in the aft, leaving sun nite to do my hon anal homework (well, thought abt it during the week) Shall attempt to change this to doing work on sat nite, but that might be hard. besides, the study group meets on sun. But that is also getting disruptive, and some pple are not showing up already. So shall have to work something out, am sure i can do it :)
8. started wondering where all my time goes too, still dun have a very good answer. all i can say is either my workload is high, or my productivity is low. well, both are true at certain points in time, so cant really blame either. Invoke Calvin's law, these 2 tend to be directly related. when its inversely related, either im sweating it out in Tk's room, or im relacing one corner in mine. Very simple logic. lol, next year when our rooms are adjoining, it would be interesting to continue applying the logic. BTW, if u ever get down to reading this part TK, i usu take that as a hint to increase the volume of my music, so that i can concentrate on my work. Am not that big a gossip-monger, and besides, it doesnt interest me lol.
