long term goals

Bloody blogspot. was attempting to load my post but i ended up malfunctioningand now i have to type this all over again. Doing my massive listening and memorization in preparation for thurs. Any marks that can be obtained thru rote memorization have to be grabbed. The rest are to be returned to the teacher.

But anyway, heres what my post sort of looked like...

I was supposed to come up with my long term goals so that i could get a bigger picture of what was in store for me in future. Not happening. Even my short term and mid term plans have gone terribly astray, what to do? I'm not a planner kind of person, am willing to change direction according to how the wind blows. My conclusion after long term planning is almost always the same - dunno, dun care, hope for the best.

Heres the pathetic attempt, surmerized nicely by pirate, who was happy to know im doing4 yrs ('i tot your country wanted u back after 3 yrs?' Sigh, those poor scholars)

1. Study for 4 years and get a PHD at harvard, princeton or MIT
2. If phd in econs, get a masters in maths
3. Honors degree in maths - need 1 topology course at least

Advice that i've repeated to myself several million times. Masters is almost out of reach, need 12 more courses, and learn a foreign language, most prob french. Have no motivation to learn it, wanted to back in army. (But thanks to a certain few pple, ended up going for jap lessons, and now can only a i u e o ka ki ku ke ko ... Ohayo gozaimas, Wakilimasan, Gan batte and varous other useless things.) But advice marginal cost of production is 0 and marginal cost of consumption is infinity - epsilon. Understandth?

Have enough credit to get my double degree in 3 yrs, just need aut of 3rd year to do 5 courses, if i were to follow my plan (Which has not been the case for all 3 quarters) General idea is there though, 3 yrs looks tantalizingly tasty. Have 2 sit-in courses planned too up till next year spring. Mostly 'basic' or 'interesting' courses that are to be taken. OMG im gonna go mad one day... TK, i'm not going for Paris Spring anymore, if that affects yr decision. HATE uprooting myself, and besides am gonna do enough maths courses anyway.

Oh yea, pirate's condition is worsening. Getting blind and deaf, but still funnily insane as ever. One of the best teachers i've had, and i've had many thanks to the Give Extra Problem institution. Lee, Lim, Soh, Ting, Huang, Kwee, Ng, Lum, Tang, ... the list goes on. May yr eyebrow twitch and know that someone says thanks for enduring all the pain and trouble i caused.

But then again, there are terrible teachers ard. My 2 econs teachers are so boring ... i mean who can fuck up game theory? (Ask me who) Have gotten to doing my hume and econ reading during class, and still dun miss a thing they are saying. Also do all (most) of my econ homework during class. Big time saver. But he has gotten round it by distributing problems on tues aft, so now only got thurs to work on it.

My life has now been divided into MWF = Maths TTh = Others. Seems like quite a good plan, which i shall follow for next quarter. I have relatively more free time on MWF, while TTh is nicely packed.

Hee, job interview tonight, hopefully things go well and i can double my pathetic income. Not getting closer to that ideal job where im being paid big bucks to do absolutely nothing. But one can always dream ... Spring break approaching, approximate cost is 500-600. All the more reason to find ways to subsidize cost

P.S. barely 12 hrs after i post u comment again. okie, shall see whats the plan lah. Hopefully can find some pple to come with me and let them do the planning. I'm too lazy/buzy to bother lol. Have fun. keep yr head above the water as much as you can.

Kiat ... It's MARCH! D-DAY! And all i can do is sit here and type my crap.

  • I will be very sad if pirate doesn't teach honours analysis next year. :(

  • haha... well, i was planning to visit chicago during next year spring break or something anyway. Maybe the end of January.

Don't understand all your econ jargon. Topology... sigh, I have some pretty big issues with it. For me discrete maths is best, and then REAL analysis... not all these crappy arbitrary open sets and homeomorphic crap.

And of course I must post quickly mah... waited so long for the opportunity heehee. Plus you update so often anyway.
