Economic Analysis
For econs, you start off with certain basic assumptions, and start to build your theory off that. The (natural) problem, then becomes, how far do you push your analysis? Where do you decide to stop at? How do you know that you can only get so far?
The next step would be to add an additional assumption, preferbaly something innocus like f'(x)>0, and hopefully not contradictary to other statements. Then you begin the process all over again, with this strengthen proposition. Push, push, stuck, review, push, push, stuck, review.
Spent the last 6 (??) hours looking at Robinson cursoe, good farm-bad farm and effects of commuting (time). Result is a headache, tired body, and some interesting stuff. To qualify that, mostly useless, only vaguely interesting. Alright, its useless and only interesting to me.
In a certain sense, thats very similar to math. Start off with certain initial conditions, push push, see what you get. How far do you push? When do you decide to add on another assumption? Bah, not something i want to think of right now, can't imagine myself doing this stuff for any extended period of time.
incidentally, people are amused that i call my math class ANAL. Thats only cos im carrying a foolscape pad with ANAL scribbled on the front. Yea, the course is ANAL. Need to take photo of pirate sometime soon...
im so not making sense now. best to quit while ahead (or not that backward).
Fine, i'd shut up now.
