harlow once again
Yea, i know its been a long time since i last posted, sending off a quick post to tell my parents that im not dead :) (well, almost...) In the crazy midst of moving. I HATE MOVING. I'm so not going for study abroad. Came back from dim sum at Phoenix, shifted Chin siong, Ivan and I are currently shifting stuff from current residence to future residence. Am stuck in my dorm now cos I'm huge, and chin siong's car can only take a certain amount of stuff + pple lol. Its great working with these 2, quick, fast, efficient. LOL, well, i guess most singaporeans here are that way. Ended up shifting late into the night (well, we went back to chintown for dinner), went to play MJ at jiahui's place, then slept over there. Am surviving on 8 hrs of sleep for the past 2 days, with lots of havoc going on.
Then i watch fat choi spirit. Actually chin siong wanted to watch it, but he fell asleep like 10 minutes into the movie. Watching it remind me again that you not only have to be a gracious loser, you also have to be a gracious winner. Would be severly impressed if anyone acted like that in real life, but i think its very impressive (yea well, part of it is for comic effect too). Haha, am neither, tend to snub it in to pple that irritate me. Oh well, maybe i shd change.
Will be shifting into adela's apartment this evening when andrew and his tenent moves out, then wait till monday for adela to move out, then wait till ?? for wanyun to move out... ugh, i so hate moving, if its not obvious by now. And i have to move so bloody many million times. Wanna kill regents lah, bloody hell.
Lots of stuff been happening the past few days, glad that the finals are over already, was a stressful week that i've been through. Sigh, and this cycle is going to repeat itself over and over and over, and its only going to get worse and worse and worse. Did half of the qns for my complex analysis, excludin the definition qns, and it was open book somemore. But narasimhan is quite mad as a coplex analysis teacher, his tests are nothing like 'sample' exam papers from other universities. I asked Kiat for his paper, and i was like, erm ... This looks easy lol. Yea, so issue no 1 is OPEN BOOK EXAM (for maths) The advanatage is that, maths is about knowing how to apply your theorems and tricks, instead of memorizing and regurtitating them. Moreover, if a proof is available somewhere, then its to your advantage if you're well read. Disadvantage would be that you might not 'learn/memorize' the actual material, replying instead on steps in the textbook to carry you thru. I think my prof did it quite well, he set qns in parts, with the first part stating a theorem (which seems dumb in an open book test), and the test part requiring you to utilize the theorem (hence giving you a better sense of direction).
Yea, and so since i was concentrating on my anals (two of them) i neglected econs alot. Only spent 1 morning looking over the notes, and even then not very thoroughly. My mentality then was, aiyah econs is not that hard lah, at the most i just derive the stuff on the spot. The during the exam, alot of qns were based on stuff covered in lectures, since i din realy remember. For the long questions, also couldn't really do the derivations for the various details, cos i sortof knew what was happening, but din really know what to do. Hopefully it will turn out well. ISSUE 2 Yea, and so after figuring out that i dun really like econs, just that maths derivation, how much of econs am i willing to sacrifice? On a similar note, i'm pretty much decided on taking physics 120's (for dummies) instead of the honors sequence, so that i can concentrate on the other stuff. Well, at least i have other stuff to concentrate on. Have a fren whos like, i hope i qualify for the 'easiest' course, so that my parents wont presurrize me to attend the harder faster course. Am so glad thats not how its working out for me...
Grade for state is more or less confirmed. Know my grade for hon anal already, thanks to junehyuk. He so kaypoh, went to ask paul sally for his paper, general scores and such. He din attend class, but knows fourier series and transform already (from korean uni), so he scored the highest. Bloody hell. LOL. Seems like the one thing i learn abt maths is that, the higher up you go, the more you learn how to bullshit. Issue 3. Well, its not exactly bull shit, but perfecting the art of writing down whatever you think is correct, but appears to have a slight flaw, and just bluffing your way through that you have a complete solution. Have been quite lucky with my hon anal exam actually, managed to do most of the questions (well, by do, i mean do maths for 2 hrs, bullshit for 1 hr.)
Alright, laptop batt and phone batt is dying. Phone is being freaking tempremental. Think i shd go and get my other phone batt replaced, and get a new nokia phone in sg during summer. Need to collect check on monday too, YSP is the only think keeping me afloat. Shall have to create a post abt this past year in uni too. Lots of stuff that happened that i want to remember. The tiny details ...
Oh jiahui, re calculator, ITS SPOILT! Bloody hell ... so apparantly what happened is that i used my own calculator during the exam to draw graps and integrate and get area 1 (total probability). And din notice that i was used my koyak calculator instead. Damn it. It needs to be confined and imprisoned till it wakes up its either. Alternatively i just go out and find another one. Marketplace got alot selling. See, treating it like a female works all the time :)
