How to be happy

After an extremely unproductive day, i managed to write my SOSC response paper in 2 hours (usu it takes me >3), and writeup my maths problem set in 1 hr (disclaimer: All the problems were previously solved, and there were half as many this time around cos of midterm). Oh well, at least now i have a clean toilet, clean laundry, and a somewhat cleaner room (haha, cleaner room, yea rite) What infuriates me is that, someone stole my pillowcases while taking them out from the washing machine. Darn it. Hence i went online to go buy pillowcases and bedsheets, and was astonished by their costs. Sob. After a long deliberation, I'm now unable to bitch about TK and his tread-count, or cost of bedsheet. Luckily April's income was high cos of delayed March earnings and pre-emptive May earnings. But then again, cost was partially inflated by my insistence that I'd not keep accounts for a while, and this is my first 'shopping' since like spring break. I need to pickup earphones though, mine always spoil after awhile cos of the way i treat them.

A WSJ that attracted my attention was entitled 'Why we are not happy with what we have', or something like that. However, i din read that article, cos i was too busy playing. (thus cannot do a gen ju bao zhang bao dao article) However, here are my thoughts on it. Since i can't talk about human nature, i will talk about Calvin nature.

1. It's Calvin's nature to always strive for the best. Hence he will not be satisfied with what he has now, and instead look forward to what more he can get. At times, this causes great sadness and a feeling of lost, when the thing that he wants is so far out of reach. And sadness = how to be happy?

2. It's Calvin's nature to forget the pain that he went through. Which is why he has such fond memories of Army, and even hon anal. Thus he doesn't remember that what he has now was paid for at a high price of blood, sweat and toil. And forgetfulness of previous pain = current pain is terrible = how to be happy?

3. It's Calvin's nature to make light of his achievements. Hei, I'm humble. No achievements = have nothing = how to be happy?

4. It's Calvin's nature to only see the results of others, and not see the trouble that they have struggled through. Thus, it appears that others have it easy, cos they are smarter, richer, or female. Others are so successful = self is comparatively less successful = how to be happy?

5. It's Calvin's nature to have a smile on his face. It's a really sad day when i don't smile, or lose the glint in my eyes (being lost in thought doesn't count) But what really makes him happy? Dunno what makes him happy = how to be happy?

Haha, i bet few of you thought that this post will turn out this way, given the title.

P.S. In a recent elevator trip up to Regents, i commented that its rare for me to be the 2nd out of 6th person to exit (I stay on the 29th floor, total of 37 floors). This was immediately followed by the phrash 'Oh I know why'. Then i exited the elevator to the amusement of a friend, and the bewilderment of another.
