Cooked my first meal
Yea, so i cooked my first meal today.
The easiest thing was seaseme bean desert, cos its just an instant mix, add hot water. Give me anything instant and id be alright.
Did the rice, used too much rice (for the 2 of us) and a bit too much water. But still, i would say its quite alright. After that was the omelett. Used 4 eggs, which was 1 too many cos the frying pan too small. But still, it turned out alright.
Then was beancurd with bean sprouts, which was an interesting experiemnt. Tried cooking the beancurd, had no idea when it is considered cooked, so just kept on flipping and flipping, then set it aside. Next tried to cook beansprouts, but they like din want to cook cos everything is in the air. So decided to splash water on it to soak it down, and it sortof worked. But still, had no idea when it appeared cooked, so ate a few raw beansprouts until i was mildly happy. Then added the beancurd on, stirred some more, waited, stired. Din seem like it wanted to cook. But oh well, it shd be. Hence set it aside, but realized, hmz, this is completely balnd. Ooops, forgot to add garlic. Oh well, we can always fry it again...
The worst was the chicken. Used chicken wings marinated in (way too much) dark soy sauce and (way too little) honey. Andd well, my idea of marinate is just to leave it there for like erm 10 minutes then start frying. Didn't want to deep fry the chicken wings, cos it would be way too oily, and a waste of oil. But then, had no idea when the chicken would be cooked ... see, chicken takes a long time to cook ... Kept on stabbing the chicken, and it was uncooked. But cos i added too much soy sauce, one side of the chicken was turning black, and i tot it was like chao ta. (Luckily turned out only to be the soy sauce) And apparantly i cooked it for a sufficient period of time, cos there was no blood or raw parts. Might have overcooked it, but due to the srak soy sauce, there was no way to tell... The worst part, was that the wok wasn't non-stick ... Dark soy sauce and honey aiant something you want to scrape. Ugh, spent an ungodly amount of time at the sink scrubbing away... Kenneth was clearing the living room and cleaning up the stove, then he took over. Its finally done, and my arms are like ugh. I shall stay clear of Andrew's wok from now on. Frying with that thing is dangerous. But then again, i guess its cos of the honey...
Well, at least the food was edible, and we are not picky eaters ... Actually, the test for edibility will be evident tomolo, conditional upon the number of times i have to visit the toilet. If its single digit, think i shall try my hand at dinner :) Okie, im tired and shall go and sleep ...
