Putnam

Yupz, its over and done with. Screwed up quite badly this year. Missed A1 completely, had the right arguments all the way to the end, but drew a wrong conclusion cos i put the inequality signs on the wrong side. Damn. Screwed A5 cos i forgot how to count. Should have a coefficient of n instead of 1, so was attempting to bash out the wrong stuff. (And i knew how to bash and complete the solution ... ) Missed B3 cos of the way i wrote up my solution. Taked about convex hull, when actually i needed ALL the points instead. And the worst part is that i originally had a 'somewhat' correct solution, but made that correction cos i thought it was needed. Convinced myself after that that it wasn't necessary, but FORGOT to change it. sianz. With any luck, my score will be 76, and that should be an upper bound.

well, on the bright side, i 'could' do 10 problems. This year's easy qns were harder than normal, and the medium questions were easier than normal. Thus, there will be a great bunching up of scores at the 9-10 problem area, depending on how many people screwed up. So the top 25 should have a cutoff of like 85 (UGH). In some years, thats enough to get into the top 5. Oh well, guess thats what happens when you have many easier qns (just like some IMO's) Results will be out in April or thereabts (around spring break), so theres nothing to do until then.

theres always next year! Have solved a1-a6, b1-b6, though in 2 separate years. Hopefully can put that together next year. LOL. PFI2Y! LOL. It gets harder and harder. Cos according to boon, miracles only happen to freshman (in this case Charmaine who solved 8 problems perfectly)
