Happy days are here again

Dear Mr. Lin,

This email will acknowledge receipt of your submission. A formal acknowledgement will be forthcoming. Regards,

Nancy R. Board

Yea, and so i've submitted my first initial paper to the AMM. They will spend some time figuring out if its worth publishing, and if the result is known to others already. And thus the month(s) long wait begins.

Paul Sally seems quite impressed :) The proof was a great simplification of what he had, and besides i developed an independent result. Seems like none of the Chicago profs (those that are left that PS talked to) know this. He tentatively offered to let me work on research problems, at least those at a more accessible level. And so that shall just add to my busy schedule for next year.

Need to learn linear algebra, not in terms of eigenvalues, eigenvectors and determinants, but in terms of linear transformations, dot product, orthogonality, etc. Might do a bit over summer (haha, who am i kidding), but think i shall do a DRP in autumn on this. Hmz, which just means that i must be a hermit already.

Kiat commented that my blog seems somewhat down recently. Well, partly cos i've been so busy that it tires me out slightly, and i end up sleeping in class :) Think there are less than 10 classes that i did not fall asleep in, poor profs of mine. And i sit in the front row too for leg space :) Everything is fine and good, all the more so that im going back to sg

Been teaching my math pple how to play MJ, and how have to import MJ sets back to US. Oh well, sometime next year shall start making them play with $$, there are 1/2 that are almost ready to do so. Just must choose the right level of competition, sry jiahui :)

Boon, i was thinking of going over to MIT in winter actually (cos charmaine is also there), but well, might just end up going to Cornell (ernie n julius).

Home in x days, where x is a constantly decreasing function.

  • Aiyah up to you lah. If you come in mid-December it'll be during finals, and I'll be pissed at you.

And if you come after finals, I might be gallivanting off somewhere WARM.

Anyway I'll be in Chicago in Nov, a couple of weeks before thanksgiving.
